If this young man is struggling to pass high school courses, and must attend summer school to do so, what gives anyone the idea that he will be able to progress in a college climate? He will have to have several tutors following him very closely, and obtain some leeway from his professors.
Unfortunately, from what I read about his status, he will be be hard pressed to remain as a student at 'Bama. I do wish him luck. He will need that and much more to become and remain eligible.
Ever follow the academic support given to student-athletes at SEC schools? He will have a pack of intelligent tutors available whenever he needs help.

You know I've always wondered how universities can provide all of these academic services to student-athletes only.
Last week I did some research on the Louisiana State University campus at the "Nick Saban Library & Resource Center". No athletes, just students. Not too many "thick" books. Some of the editions were stamped with "PROPERTY OF UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA ATHLETIC DEPT."
Go figure.
