    SPHL Completes Dispersal Draft

    Huntsville, AL--The newest members of the Southern Professional Hockey League, Lafayette, Mississippi and Pensacola completed the dispersal draft today of players on the rosters of the Richmond Renegades and Twin City Cyclones, two former SPHL teams not returning for the 2009-10 SPHL season.

    Each new member team was allowed to select up to six players who were on the Richmond or Twin City rosters in a round robin draft selection process.

    SPHL Commissioner Jim Combs announced the draft results this afternoon and also stated that “any players not selected in the draft are now free agents and are eligible to sign with any team in the SPHL.”

    Combs also urged fans especially in the new SPHL markets to access the web site listed below for additional information and career statistics on the players drafted for their teams.

    Why wouldn't you use those last 2 draft picks? Did Richmond fold or note to another league/level? Weren't they one of the top ECHL teams?

    Maybe it allows you more vets?

    The SPHL only lets us bring 30 players to training camp, the players I picked up in the dispersal draft came with good credentials from a scout that i played with.
    GM Brent Sapergia and myself played pro hockey for 17yrs our hands reach all over the Hockey world, guys we played with are now owners, scouts, GM's coaches at every level of hockey. In other words we have connections!! putting the right team togeather will be easy for us.
