I think this is a real possibility since the Hockeyplex has helped to allow the youth of Acadiana to get some ice time and play on teams. Personally I think it would be awesome.

Honestly its an small possibility IMO. If you look at this league, its still a pro league. You look at the last few years and look at the players that are on other teams, there arent locals on any of those teams. Now, not all of them are hockey towns that have players with years of youth experience, but still. I think if they do have locals, I can think of 2 or 3 at the most around here that could be successful in professional hockey. This isnt juniors where you can start a team of guys around here. Nearly all of the guys hired will have played in other leagues and colleges as well.

Coach Handy would be a better judge than I. I was just hoping that with so many of the youth of Acadiana getting ice time and playing competively it was a real possibility. The SPHL is a "A" league so I would think a few of our kids might have a shot. Just my opinion.

Like I said, I play with all of the guys around here and maybe 2 or 3 would be able to make it on a competitive team. Its a big jump from playing pickup and adult league to going to a professional team, even if it is single A.

I didn't pickup you actually play hockey. You would be a better judge then me. I think it would be cool to have at least a few hometown hero's on the ice. You don't think any of the guys you played with could be an enforcer?

Of the guys I'm thinking, none of them are really big guys, but more skilled.
