Thread: KRVS Makes its Move

  1. Default KRVS Makes its Move

LAFAYETTE — The switch has been flipped.

The University of Louisiana’s public radio station, KRVS 88.7 FM, is broadcasting from its new home in Burke-Hawthorne Hall.

The move marks a new era for the station, which is in the process of applying for a grant to multicast on three channels to offer distinct programming options to listeners.

“Our advantage here is we’ve never been at a shortage of local content,” said Dave Spizale, KRVS’ general manager. “It really opens us up to more community participation and more student participation.”

KRVS stands for Radio Voice of Southwestern. How do you change the station call letters to KRVL? And while they are at it, change the Southwestern name on the old gym on campus that is home to the UL women's basketball team.

I thought of you yesterday when our UL intern came to work with a UL_L shirt.

I suspect the UL L shirt is all the intern could get at the Bookstore. KRVL is just another move in capturing The University of Louisiana name. Other ways of solidifying our UL and Louisiana name:

    1. Change CajunDome Blvd. to Louisiana Blvd.
    2. Change Cajun Field to Louisiana Stadium. You can name the actual field after a possible major donar (when one emerges), like Texas did.
    3. Pick a mascot to go along with our Ragin Cajun moniker, like the Pelican or CatahoULa or bULlgator. Have a male and a female called Louie and Anna.

KRVL is in Kerrville, Tx. Can't use those call letters. How many people know what KRVS stands for?

I didn't even know KRVS existed.....after listing to it for about 30 minutes I will go back to not knowing it exists.

To each his own. I don't listen to KRVS either. But, it is well known for it's promotion of the Cajun culture. It can be heard from the Sabine river to the Mississippi river and north to Alexandria. All of Acadiana.

LOL, not as bad as Auburn.

They had to pay Tuberville $5.1 milliion to let him go and then turned around and hired a guy at Iowa St (who was 5-19 and reportedly can't recruit) who they have to pay millions to in addition to the $750K Iowa St buy out.

Auburn interviewed 8 coaches and got the Iowa State guy.
