Mike Cook tomorrow, right? Just win baby!
GEAUX CAJUNS!
Mike Cook tomorrow, Wilborn for our game #4, I'd assume Lackie for a champ game if needed and we've wasted all of our solid starters. In the pen we got Haagan who could probably come back on short rest, Wascom, Greg Harmon, Alex Fusilier, Randal Bulliard and Probably Matt Broussard. I personally think that we have more pitching left than anyone. The difference between the best in our pen and the worst in our pen is marginal at best and I'd save Broussard for a game that we need to get in in case our starter fumbles, we can have him go 3+ solid innings. It isn't over yet, but I sure as hell like our chances alot more now than I did even yesterday.
If we win tomorrow and cook goes 6+, I think that we will win the championship, if not, the game is a toss up.
It will be interesting to see how the pen is handled. Haagen has been the first out of the pen, but I guess circumstances dictated bringing Wagley (who has been great most year) last night. Harmon has been the 3rd guy out of the pen. Basically, right now, you have your Sunday starter, 1, 3 and remainder of the pen to choose from. We will be playing more than 3 games so the next starter out will probably be Wilborn (after Cook of course), who has been inconsistent, but I think that him getting last week off was huge for him. It seemed like he was fading as the season carried on, but that long layoff will pay dividends IMO. I think if another game had to be started, Lackie would get the call.
Either way, I'm not a fan of either FAU or MT or any other team, just more a fan of high scoring games that get deep into each teams pen. We've used 3 pitchers through 2 games and that is the best of any team playing. We know our pen has been inconsistent and top heavy with the best guys being the best and the lower down guys being very up and down. Lets hope we can get the win tomorrow and if we do it with few pitchers, all the better.
We will only have to Play 2 more games if we win them both. If we can beat Middle again tonight Wilborn will beat whoever we play. best case scenario is western gets beat by Troy tonight and forces them to play another game in the morning before we play them.
Cajuns to BR as the 4 seed you know what that means.....
Yes I know. We will have to play more than 3 total, therefore we have to go further than a normal weekend when it comes to starters.
On a side note, when we played MT this season, Wilborn started Saturday and only lasted 2.2 innings. Haagen came in and threw 4.1 inn of 1 hit ball and Robe closed it out. So we do see that Haagen has had success against MT this year. Most likely he will be first out today but its nice to know he pitched that well against that lineup.
