Can anyone shed any insight into who/whom we are currently recruiting for next year? Are all our scholarships handed out? Are we looking at anyone from LSUE?
Thanks!

I hope we are not looking at anyone from LSUE...we haven't had much success with kids we got from that school!
LSUE is a division 2 or 3 junior college...I am all for getting juco players, but go to Flordia or Texas and recruit from those junior colleges. The competition level is way better. LSUE would not finish above 500 in those conferences. They are a good team for the competition that they play. The problem is the level of competition makes average to below average players look good, when they are not that good. When recruiting I think it is just as important to look at the level of competition that your recruit is playing against. If he hits 300 LSUE that is not that good!
Cajun2Bag,
Are you familiar with the Juco structure? There are no differences between d1 and d2 juco. Texas schools compete in the NJCAA d1 tourney, but Florida competes only in the state tourney down there. Same with California, they only play Cali schools for post season championships, and the Arizona jucos are among the best in the country and they play with wood and are registered as d2 schools.
There is no rhyme or reason to the D1 and D2 differences in juco like there is in NCAA.
D3 juco is non scholarship and quite awful, but D1 and D2 are on par with each other.
CajunT can comment, but we originally signed 6 (I think) in the fall for next years class, which was all they expected to offer at the time. Five were pitchers, and one was a shortstop. I think they are now looking again to sign two infielders (1st, 3rd) and another pitcher.
You may be correct to some extent, but the depth of talent in the Florida, Texas, Arizona and Califorina Jucos are much deeper then level in which LSUE competes. I certainly don't want down play LSUE's accomplishments, they deserve a tremendous amount of credit for what that program has been able to accomplish. But according to the coaches I have spoken to, the talent is not on par with those juco conferences.
I am pretty familiar with the JUCO set up. When I played in JUCO the Flordia schools went to grand junction for the Division 1 JUCO world series (We played Miami-Dade in the second round of the World Series), i was unaware of the change.
There is a huge disparity on the talent level from Division 1- Division 2. For example, we played Richland Junior College the year before they won the Div 2 Junior College championship. I wish the LSUE would go play San Jac, Grayson, Texarkana, North Central on any given year they wouldn't stand a chance. The competition level at least when I played wasn't even close. Maybe things have changed, but I seriously doubt it. Not to knock LSUE they have been very successful at their level of play.
Have you seen the competition level of other JUCO's? Or have you just seen the success that LSUE has had and assume that they are all great players?
Speaking of recruiting I saw that the Freshman/newcomer of the year from Monroe went to Westgate HS---did we offer this kid???????
Yes Boomer, Boomer Blanchard is from the area. He's another JUCO guy that was at LSUE and is a Junior this year. CajunT will have to fill in the part about if we offered him, but I thought I remember hearing we did not and he wanted to come here, but dont quote me on that.
