The UL campus library hosts its 3rd Annual "Banned Book Read-Out" this week, celebrating the freedom to read "banned books."
The week was launched nationwide in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries.
According to the American Library Association, more than 11,000 books have been challenged since then. The event will be tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Dupré Library. For a list of the most oft-banned books, click here.
