There are several former IceGators that live in the surrounding area.

Rob McCaig (works offshore)

Ryan Shannahan (Lafayette policeman)

Doug McIvor (getting married in July to a Lafayette girl)

Joey Middlestalt (married a local girl and I think lives around here)

Dennis Shiryaev (knee injury and I don't think can play hockey anymore)

Shawn McNeil (married a girl from Lake Charles area)

Louie Dumont (married a girl from the area but I think he's already signed with RiverKings)

I can't think of anyone else at the moment but they may have more former players.

That would be awesome. Some of those guys are still young enough to be big time players. It also speaks volumes of the Lafayette area to have so many Yankees and Canucks with no real ties to the community to settle down and call it home.

Oh, I did forget at least one former Gator, Eric Cloutier...of course, he might have other problems to work thru. Although, I would love to see him on the ice again. I loved when he "picked" on other players and would start a fight.

What about Chris Valicevic? He was still living in the area not to long ago working for Baker Hughes.

Last I heard about Val is that he is separated or divorced from Becky and now lives in Texas, I think it might be Houston working for Baker Hughes.

The team does need a "stay at home defensemen" like Val was.

What about Jay Murphy or Donnie Parsons. Those were two great players.
