Apple confirmed that it has acquired digital magazine platform Prss. The startup helped publishers create iPad versions of their magazines. Originally reported by Dutch language site, iCulture, the startup’s talent and resources could be rolled_into Apple’s iBook Author tool. The tool currently_helps users create digital books for Apple’s iBook ebook storefront. With Prss, the tool could be used to create digital magazines for the Newsstand app. Apple confirmed the acquisition with the usual statement reserved for acquisitions: Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.
