Cox Communications today announced that it will double the speeds of its most popular packages of Internet service for all Louisiana customers this week. Cox High Speed Internet Preferred will increase from 25 megabits per second to 50 megabits per second. Cox High Speed Internet Premier will increase from 50 megabits per second to 100 megabits per second. These packages represent nearly 75 percent of Cox's high-speed Internet customers. The new speeds automatically went into effect today in New Orleans, and will go into effect tomorrow in Baton Rouge and Acadiana. This will be done with no increase to the customer's bill.
"Our customers tell us that speed matters," stated Jacqui Vines, senior vice-president and region manager of Cox's Southeast Region. "We continue to provide our customers more connectivity with an increase in speed again this year. We know speed is especially important in today's world where more and more devices are connected through home Wi-Fi. We will continue to invest in our network to bring our customers the best online experience possible."
With speeds as fast as 150Mbps, Cox is continuing to provide its customers the fastest speeds in Louisiana. The increased speeds come on the heels of the company's announced plans to offer gigabit speeds to all customers by 2017.
