The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a pedestrian accident that occurred in the 1100 block of Fournerat Road near Johnson Highway early Tuesday morning.
According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, shortly before 8:00 a.m., a 25-year-old woman was riding her bicycle eastbound when she was struck from behind by a female subject that was also traveling eastbound. Witnesses advised that the victim was thrown from her bicycle and landed in a nearby ditch with the bicycle landing on top of her. She was transported by Air Med to a Lafayette Hospital with a broken leg and other possible minor injuries, according to APSO Spokesperson Maxine Trahan.
Deputies advised, no charges have been filed against the driver of the motor vehicle.
The incident remains under investigation.
