A state-funded study released Monday suggests tolls could pay up to half of the 3-billion dollar price tag to complete the Interstate 49 South project.
According to The Advocate, tolls could start at 18 cents a mile, increasing to 25 cents a mile over 15 years, and would help pay for the 145-mile stretch of interstate from Lafayette to New Orleans.
The study found that tolls collected along the entire route could pay from 26 percent to 51 percent of the project.
