Thread: Coaching staff has earned the opportunity to figure this out

Default Coaching staff has earned the opportunity to figure this out

Nobody is more frustrated, and I mean, FRUSTRATED, than I am.

Three 9-win seasons, three straight bowl victories. Best three-year stretch in 100 years.

Every dog has its day. I've personally had about four straight bad years that for me rivals what has happened the last three games, but nobody knows about it because I don't discuss it and I'm not a public figure.

Time for the real fans to step up and give these people the opportunity to work this out.

Let's all take a deep breath and put everything in perspective. Regardless of what happens the rest of this season. We need to recruit athletes to a place an athlete will want to play, get in a better conference, complete all phases in the master plan, and not blow up our future over a temporary setback.

We need to protect our future by handling temporary setbacks.

I'll give Hud this year as a grace period but that's it. If we don't improve greatly next year, I will be calling for his head.

Coach Hud's first year here was his best team here. His second year was his second best team. His third year here was his third best team. The jury is still out on his fourth year but I'm starting to see a trend.

I'll give him time, I love what HUD has done here. Still not loving what I'm seeing.

Hud's not even had his first big requirement to make major changes. I'm not that fired up to see the SBC cold slap him to wake him up. I'd rather he have the required revelations, without being abused by our conference mates. But Hud has absolutely no worries about his job here.

I honestly don't get why you guys are so down. When one looked at the season beforehand one would've figured 2-2 or 1-3 to start the season depending on what happened with Louisiana Tech. Now the Cajuns get into Sun Belt play and have every chance to win the conference and go to another bowl. Notably, they don't have to play Georgia Southern and Georgia Southern appears to be the toughest potential competition in the Sun Belt.

You take the three previous seasons and the Cajuns were 1 - 2 each time against non conference FBS competition during the regular season. This time they're 0 - 3. But maybe Louisiana Tech (in spite of the loss to Northwestern State in association with 5 turnovers) is better than 5-7 Kent was in 2011, 2-10 Tulane was in 2012, or 5-7 Akron was in 2013.

Time will tell. Louisiana Tech this year could very well be better than the teams the Cajuns beat in non conference regular season play during the previous three years.

That was a good post Cali. However the staff may not be able to figure this out in 2014 due to the shortcomings the team has. They linebackers are slow, the DB's are small, and the wideouts struggle to get separation. Therefore, I am not optimistic for the rest of the season but I will keep supporting the guys throughout. Also, for three years we did not have many injuries. Now our best WR is out as well as our best LB. I personally think the leadership on this team is not what it was in the past. Guys like Andre Huval, Daryl Surgent, and Justin Anderson were good players as well as leaders. That is not meant to criticize the current guys. They just may not have many players with that type of make up. It is very difficult for mid majors to consistently stay successful. Almost all have a bad year at times. It is just that none of us expected that to happen this season. That does not mean we will not continue to progress from a big picture point of view. I expect more good seasons than bad down the road but I have no doubt there will be bumps down that road. Our budget is simply not big enough yet to patch all the holes.

While I agree with your comment, I'll repeat what I've said on another thread. It's not the 1-3 as a record is shocking. It's the way we are losing. Three games with all three phases struggling, our talented offense looking downright DII-ish, and a defense scared to even man up or show some sense of evolution. Again, it's the lack of fight, the lack of pride, and the most obvious lack of leadership! That's is why I am upset and downright disappointed.

With the success and exposure of UL football, and the lack of progress in building the APC, I'd call for Farmers head.

We need to recruit better players. Not gonna happen when recruiting good players to our Bates motel, when others in the sunbelt have nice Hyatt Regencys

No offense Cuz. But I don't even understand the purpose or the need for this thread. There may be some on this staff Hud needs to replace after the season, but to even infer he is on the hot seat is laughable. he deserve to be criticized this season along with his staff because IMO they dropped the ball several times in the offseason leading up to the beginning of the football season & the bobos are all real evident. I know he isn't going anywhere, but I'll make a recommendation to him which if he has any sense he's already seen. Don't ever get so hung up on one player at this level that you put yourself in a situation that you feel so jammed up you can't replace them. And I don't car what anybody says, that's the situation right now with Broadway, or we'd have seen someone else in the game for a few series that mean something by now. That's all I have to say about that.

As far as another fat raise goes, I wouldn't recommend Hud go into the AD's office this year with any demands there. He might find out there were a number of inquirees for his job if he were to skeedaddle off to another school.
