Notably, they don't have to play Georgia Southern and Georgia Southern appears to be the toughest potential competition in the Sun Belt.

You take the three previous seasons and the Cajuns were 1 - 2 each time against non conference FBS competition during the regular season. This time they're 0 - 3. But maybe Louisiana Tech (in spite of the loss to Northwestern State in association with 5 turnovers) is better than 5-7 Kent was in 2011, 2-10 Tulane was in 2012, or 5-7 Akron was in 2013.

Time will tell. Louisiana Tech this year could very well be better than the teams the Cajuns beat in non conference regular season play during the previous three years.
Because after three years we expected our program to be at a more competitive level. Being happy with 2-2 or 1-3 requires me to be ok with another 8-4 or 9-4 record. I'm no longer ok with this and hopefully that's a good thing.

It's not the record (though I expected at worse 2-2). It's the complete lack of competitiveness in the last three games. We look terrible in every facet except kicking game.

And for all those who think Tech was more talented than us....they loss to Northwestern. You can't tell me we aren't recruiting better raw talent than Northwestern. This season thus far is a coaching failure, almost entirely. And that includes the handling of Broadway. To say the coaches are on the hot seat, after three bowl wins is just dumb, but that doesn't mean they are immune to criticism.

Last season before Broadway injury was his best team. Hands down. Last year, and I thought this at the time, was our best shot at a 10-2 season. Turnover fest against ULM and Broadway out at USA squashed that opportunity.

Lets face facts, this is largely the same team as last year, which is why I didn't see us busting the BCS like many on here hoped this year, but is also the sane reason I think the team will bounce back. After the tech loss, these guys had to play 2 very good teams on the road. Their toughest games are behind them. There is some light at the end of this tunnel.

HUD already had raises figured in for his new 6yr contract extension. I'm sure he is happy he got that done after last season instead of after this one. He gets yearly raises correct? Making the $1M and up to $1.25 after 3 years, is that what I remember? I know the details were posted on RaginPagin back when the deal was done.

As a non cajun fan, you wouldn't understand what it is to look at this team compared to what we've seen at times over the past 3 years. You are looking at things from a very macro based environment and from this vantage point, you don't get to see the disturbing trends that can hinder a team's progression through the course of a season. The bottom line is that this team is playing horribly and its hard to think that we will have success in the SBC this year if many things are not addressed and improved upon.

Its a good thing but, unfortunately, not a very realistic thing. Building a program is not a sprint, its a marathon and we need those building block seasons to increase the budget, recruit better athletes and define a winning attitude and environment. We are not at a point where 10 win seasons are the norm and winning conference titles is getting old. We need to develop a dominance in conference and then start aiming at winning on the big stage. I'll take 8 win seasons right now, especially if we are competing and showing signs of progression in those losses.

Yea I agree. I just bought into the hype machine all offseason so I'm struggling to readjust. It's not going to happen again.

I disagree, kicking hasn't been completely stellar. I actually put my hands on a kickoff against southern and I'm in section G. Trust me buddy, if I hadcaught that kick off, judging from our teams play this year, it was a possibility I was going take one back!
Kicking has been best phase but not great.

Punting has been stellar. Stover has been solid at FG. Kickoffs....we havn't scored enough to see enough...

LOL, yeah we all bought into the hype machine a little too much unfortunately even though truthfully, we had every reason to be excited.

The trend you have seen has nothing to do with HUD. We had a QB who could execute 100% of the playbook. TB is no where near the passer that BG was.
