The Mamou Cajun Music Festival originated in the 1970's, and the same music, values and people still make the festival what it is today.

"Some of the elderly people, that was their background and that was all the old Cajun back porch type music and they bring their kids, they bring their grandkids," said festival president, Terral Aymond.
