Will be confirmed tomorrow. Probably wont be the IceGators though. Pensacola had to get a new name and I'm sure we will too. Pretty exciting since I am still a hockey player. I definitely wont mind hopefully having some renewed hockey excitement.
They will be called the IceGators. The new group bought the rights to the name of the team.

Confirmed by the D.A.!
Holy crap, I'm excited! They even worked out a deal to keep the name! My hundreds of Gator jersey's have meaning again!
Money Blackham makes off of general events along with the Mudbugs, and IceGators should go to R.C.A.F.

First, it is a testament to the Acadiana economy to have these Semi Pro teams playing in Lafayette! Will give more people more things to do in the Acadiana area.
The ice and any other improvements is a Plus for UL as Blackham is owned by UL. I would think that over the years UL's Blackham will get more upgrades, hopefully at least facelifts, cosmetic in nature.
This should help raise money for the RCAF or at least the Athletic Budget. Also would help HOPEFULLY to raise money for our UL Hockey team and would avail them a place to play.
May even open up another place that is affordable to ice scate.
Turbine, I'm not sure where the money from the Blackham leases and events go towards in the university budget. No one has been able to give me a direct answer in the past two years. It certainly hasn't paid for any maintenance to the Blackham facility. I'm almost certain its going into the blackhole known as the general budget. I have not seen any unidentified funds going into the athletic budget.
I agree. This is a good opportunity for the RCAF to get a boost.
I also like the idea of these teams doing some upgrades to Blackham like what the Bullfrogs did to the Tigue. I know some (maybe most) people don't agree but I would love to see the Cajun basketball team in a new upgraded Blackham in the future.
Either way, welcome back Icegators!
Hmmm... will the Blackham undergo renovations?... I question the ability to maintain the ice with the Blackham in its current shape..
