I don't think there is any way that Broadway is getting a free pass by the staff. I think everybody knows he is not playing his best but I also think many of our problems are systemic. If protection and blitz pick up by our receivers and running backs does not get better as well, we will see the same type of defensive pressure even in SBC play. I didn't see the Boise game so I have no idea how well the line played but I just know by what I've seen thus far, they have not played the pass rush well at all at any point in the season.
Its for these reasons that I don't necessarily think Haack would have been any more successful up to this point but I also think that if Broadway continues to struggle moving forward, you have to be willing to give Haack his shot to move the offense. At this point, its about winning the conference championship and I don't care if its Haack, Broadway or Davis running the offense as long as the guy who gives you the best shot at winning is the guy behind center.
The getting behind immediately stuff definitely changes our gameplan. But when we cant score AT all. That mainly falls on the offense right now. D still needs to right the ship. From the bottom. Scheme matters not when we try to arm tackle. We have to improve in all facets. Quickly.
I saw the Boise game and they sent the house, but it was mainly run blitzes. They relied on their corners to shut or WRs down. Which they did because there was no deep threat. We didn't attempt a pass over 20 yards all game. Most attempts were in the 7-10 yard range of a dump off to the back. Their dbs took about a five step drop and sat there knowing there would be no throw over the top. There was no cushion given and it caused problems.
The 2nd half we looked much better in all phases of the game.
