Do you think the issues that appear to be affecting us most are something a staff (this staff) can or will tackle midseason? Do they even think something's broke at this point... besides the stupid "execution and turnover ratio" meaningless tripe?
Personally, I'd get our race car back in the shop, pull the engine, and start overhauling. I think this staff will rotate the tires and think that we're out of the curves now... it's just straightaways ahead in the SBC. If that is the case that our staff thinks that way, I believe we're going to get slammed.
Over the years of being on the sidelines, I have seen some good things occur during an off week. I am not ready to panic yet. Mentally for our Coaches and kids this will be like starting a new season. we will also have a 10 day window after the Georgia St game before our 1st Tuesday night game. A lot can get corrected over this time.
The biggest thing that I saw last night is we still struggle in securing the edge. I would like to see a replay that I can stop and rewind to see exactly what is happening...other than running under blocks, which I still see too much of
Did anyone see Georgia State and Texas State last night? umm..if we play like we've been playing we won't make it to .500. They will dismantle us.
Don't know about the coaching staff, but our administration has never shown any propensity for striking while the iron is hot. They move at their own comfortable, glacial pace and then seem shocked and dissapointed when the window slams shut in their face. Unfortunately I don't see any signs of change.
It looks to me like we're either too light in the pants, or the guys who have bulked up enough are too heavy to have any mobility. You add all that up with a very passive defense & DBs who are scared to put tight coverage on these WRs running around, & a defensive scheme which sucks. It gives you the recipe for what's going on.
Thanks basinbear. I hope they do figure out how to get on track. I only see 50% a superior opponent issue. That aspect doesn't have to be dealt with at this point forward. No one ahead is unbeatable. I just hope our staff recognizes that the other 50% of the issue is on their head to resolve. I can't stand the thought that a group of middle-aged men are going to yell this out of these young men. You can't yell a bad defensive scheme good.
The scheme appears to be the same one as Alabama's and a few others...Is our personnel capable of running this scheme? I do not attend the practices and I do not have access to team game video where you see the whole picture at once, so I cannot answer that question. Television does not allow for a complete picture of a play. We have to trust our Coaches to get things right.
