Mike, it's been a long time since you've seen 19 and trying to fit in to the modern college scene is more difficult now. I probably shouldn't have mentioned it, because some people are going to take it the wrong way. When people hear rumors and see a team struggling they assume the worst. I'm sure some athletes will leave the program and they should do what is best for them.

never met les, but I'm also 19 , catholic, and a freshman at UL, and I don't drink, not so much religious but more personal choice, it does get tough at times with it everywhere and when you arnt drinking , u get quizzed about why not by everyone , of course, I have lived here my whole life so I guess I'm used to it

Note, I don't hold it against anyway who has an occasional beer. I don't drink because I get a buzz on half a beer and I like to be in control of situations. I agree how tough it is on kids to fit in today. CajunRyan4 is not the only one his age who does not drink. My son is a sophomore at UL who does not drink. Reason is he sees many people came in plastered and making fools of themselves at the store he works at. He does not want to have something cause him to behave in that fashion.

I had heard his parents weren't too sure of him coming here in the first place for this reason.
Wow, I wonder what his family thought of the Mardi Gras atmosphere of the opening series of the year against Nebraska. All around the athletic complex were thousands of extremely inebriated individuals. Talk about a culture shock!

For the person who asked earlier, Les is from Dyersburg, Tenn., an hour north of Memphis.

I spoke with a couple different sources about this subject today. It is my understanding that this is nothing but a rumor. Les and his parents met with coach Robe to talk about his injury and treatment a few weeks ago. Les remains committed to the program.

He has been dealing with some family health issues and was in Tennessee on Monday to be with that loved one. He wasn't at UL's batting practice on Monday but did go hit at the local junior college in his hometown.

I'll have more information on my blog Wednesday. I would write more now, but I'm on the way back from Houston.

If anybody knows Fr. Chester at the Catholic student center----that is the guy to talk to about the situation----He will give the whole situation the correct guidance------Being a Catholic --what a great Mass with his devotion to the Eucharist and sermons that are truly conservative or just Catholic!!!! Hated to see him leave Abbeville but UL is where he needs to be----Confession is old school!!!!!
