Thread: WR Johnson motivated to make impact

  1. Default WR Johnson motivated to make impact

With top receiver Jamal Robinson sidelined by recent knee surgery that is expected to keep him out until sometime in October, opposite-side senior wideout James Butler has vowed to step up and become UL's new No. 1.

Gotta get the ball to Johnson as he's the biggest threat we have out there and he needs to be fed. It also appears that, as of right now, the slot WR depth chart will be determined on a game per game basis and who has the better hand on that day. Riles played well along with Bates in the Ole Miss game and we saw very little Fuselier as had a pretty bad drop and vice versa for the Tech game.

According to the staff this is the most talent WR-Corps that we've had. How about getting the ball to the guy that's open instead of zoning and honing in on one guy....THAT is TB's problem. Let's get the ground game going and use some play action crossing routes to maintain drives.....This is exactly what Boise St will do. Watch how many crossing "rub" routes the Broncos run, causing 6 kinds of confusion amongst our secondary.

With Robinson out last week I think TB did a much better job with this against Ole Miss. He found his slots and TEs more. He did go to Butler quite a bit and I wish he would have went to Johnson more but apperently he just could not get open. Not to mention when you are down that big and trying to make something happen...the game plan gets tossed out the window.
