Thread: UL secondary hopes to tighten coverage

  1. Default UL secondary hopes to tighten coverage

Last Monday, on the heels of back-to-back losses to Louisiana Tech and at Ole Miss, UL coach Mark Hudspeth announced some changes in the Ragin' Cajun secondary.

You can't get a little bit pregnant. Either you tighten it up or you don't.

Lol I thought the same thing. We don't need to hope to tighten up coverage, just TIGHTEN UP COVERAGE.

I can't help but think of the Captain Obvious commercial when reading this article. After last year, the offseason, and the first three games, they finally think we're playing too soft and the corners are bailing. I was screaming at the TV last weekend cause the corner was turning his shoulders starting to run backwards before the ball was snapped. Hope we see a change this week. Need to bust receivers chops off the line and disrupt their timing.

It's a mentality issue with these kids. When coaches have preached to them over and over and over "DON'T LET ANYONE GET BEHIND YOU!!", your mindset is to keep falling back. That's why they play 10yds off the ball and backpedal as soon as the play starts. So these QB's can throw the medium routes all day long. That's why our pass D has been horrible for 3 straight years. We've just supplanted that horribleness with TO's, which is something we're not even remotely doing right now

They DB's went so far back last game, even Hud noticed and commented they gave too much space. That was a first. Terrible mindset for a defense.

The opposing offense pictures a bunch of marshmallows with red helmets running around back there. Soft, very soft.

Just let em play, I know it sounds over simplified but just let em play. Here is an idea, trim and patt, don't let the guy in front of you catch the ball.

I think we will definitely see some aggressiveness on defense tomorrow night. Boise may burn us deep, but we may get two picks tomorrow to help us edge out the smurfs.
