The pitching rotation could have a lot of different looks depending on the draft. I think Robe and Osborne are set for the weekend. Lackie, Cook, Wilborn and Fuselier could all throw Sunday.

Don't forget about RHP Garrett Larsen, a transfer from Navarro Junior College in Texas. He was picked in the 33rd round of the 2007 draft by Boston. Thrown only once this year because of ankle problem. Will apply and likely get medical redshirt.

Also there is LHP Taylor Hubbell, a transfer from Scottsdale Junior College in Arizona. A transcript problem at his old school left him ineligible this season, but he repaid his scholarship and was here on his own dime.

Both Larsen and Hubbell will be factors next year. There's also incoming signee Colton Daigle and one JUCO pitcher expected to sign in the near future.

If there are enough starters, maybe Robe moves back as the closer. If Robe stays a starter, I'd be interested to see if Marze gets a shot as the closer. (And I say that knowing that be has struggled.)

I don't think Osborne will be drafted, or at least not until very late in the draft. I fully expect him to return next season. Wilborn will be drafted because he is a LHP that throws in the low 90's. Scouts love LHP's that can throw over 90 mph. Rob's draft status will be interesting to watch, because he has three pitches that he throws well. He may have the best opportunity to go higher in the draft.

Several of the fall signees have the ability and the stuff to close, so if Rob does return we may see him remain in the rotation. This fall will be interesting to watch.

Pitching is better some years than others, but seems to take care of itself year in and year out, so to speak. We flat need harder bats and softer gloves.

I think we are probably safe saying not all three will leave. But who knows.

But they are not the source of our troubles. Addition by subtraction definitely doesnt work

That's part of the draft madness. Anything can happen in the baseball draft. Some guys can rise and fall just because they get good or bad advice from their advisors.

The fact that Osborne got drafted in the 35th round last summer by Atlanta means that be is definitely still on the radar. His non-traditional arm slot (three-quarters, like Robe) and size makes him an interesting prospect.

I really like Robe's potential. I love his pitch variety and moxie, plus his dad is a good guy.

I personally wouldn't go for Wilborn yet because he hasn't even proven to produce consistently in college, but I know scouts love hard-throwing lefties. Really all it takes is one scout willing to give you a chance.
