UL - Tuesday night’s home game doubles as Superior Energy Services’ ‘Night at the Ballpark’, benefitting Miles Perret Cancer Services. The Miles Perret Center provides free emotional, physical and financial services for cancer patients and survivors as well as their families, and is funded through donations, grants and events such as the Games of Acadiana and ‘Night at the Ballpark’ at “The Tigue.” Children who bring change to donate to Miles Perret Cancer Services receive a free ticket to the game, which includes festivities for fans of all ages. Children 12 and under will receive free baseball cards and mini-baseball bats, and for veteran baseball fans there will be a memorabilia exhibition and $1 raffle. The Ragin’ Cajuns’ game jerseys and hats will be auctioned off at the end of the game, and as a special treat, skydivers will deliver the game ball to “The Tigue.”

• SEASON TICKET REDEMPTION NIGHT
Tuesday’s home game also serves as the second and final season ticket redemption night of the season. Season ticket holders with unused tickets from any previous 2009 home game may exchange those tickets for general admission tickets for free.

• CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Scott Hawkins continues to climb several Cajuns’ career charts. He is tied for first in all-time career home runs with Ron Robicheaux (1983-86) at 39, and recently moved into fourth for career games started (189) and total bases (384), and stands at fifth in runs scored (151) and at bats (714), and needs just two doubles to enter into a three-way, fifth-place tie in career two-baggers.

• SCOUTING THE COWBOYS
Since the Cajuns and Cowboys last met on March 17, McNeese has gone 10-13 overall and 7-11 in Southland Conference play. That brings the Cowboys’ overall mark to 19-21 and SLC mark to 8-16. MSU has lost four straight games and was swept by Texas State (31-10, 18-5 SLC) last weekend. Prior to the four-game skid, MSU had won five of six games. Terry Burrows, who played and coached at McNeese State and who had an 11 year professional career as a player, is in his second season as head coach of the Cowboys. Burrows carries a 32-63 career record into tonight’s game. The Cowboys are still hitting well as a team, boasting a .322 average, and have tallied 138 extra base hits (79 doubles, 11 triples, 48 home runs). Matt Fontenot is the team leader with a .357 batting average, which ranks 16th in the SLC. Shon Landry leads the team with 58 hits and Lee Orr has driven in 52 runs, the third-best RBI total in the league. Orr is the Southland’s co-leader with 13 home runs. McNeese is third in the Southland in team batting average. Tuesday’s starter, Jordan LeGros, is a Lafayette native who prepped at Comeaux High School. LeGros is 3-1 with a 7.40 ERA. It will be his first Division I start (played previous two seasons at Bossier Parish CC).
