So, what pearls of wisdom did HUD have after this _____ whippin?

But, before we throw him under the bus- remember how nervous we were when there was a chance that he wasn't going to play for the New Orleans Bowl?
If he hadn't broken his arm and was throwing like this I would be ranting about quarterbacks staying out of the weight room.

As is, it could be perhaps a combination of broken arm and weight room rehab.

Both can kill natural fluid motion muscle memory.

The good news is high rep throwing motion can build it back up.

Shush! Its not like the teams play every year so 112 years (actually 113, do the math) means nothing.

    Me too.

Last week: Going for a safety meant 99 yard TD for the opponent.

This week: Going for a safety meant 2 points for UL.

That 9 point swing is worth celebrating.

That is correct. I was on this ship long before Hud came aboard, and I never turned my back on our program. My being critical has absolutely nothing to do with how many new fans Hud's picked up, and their silliness along the way. They're limp wristed and couldn't hold a noodle, much less a football program rope.

I'm not unplugging because Hud is hitting his coaching wall. I expect him to learn and adapt. We aren't pulling the rope against him. We are pulling the program with him. If he feels a tug by a huge number of fans that doesn't line up with his compass... he needs to shift directions. That IS how it works. Ask every current head football coach in America.

Excluding Southern last time we held someone to under 20 points was against Ark State (7) last year. That's 7!out of the last 9 where the talent level was similar to ours and we couldn't hold em under 20. Also in our last 9 games we've allowed over 30 6 times. Trivial stat we only held 2 Sun Belt opponents to 20 pts or less all of last year ( WKU, Ark St).

If I recall UL ran the snot out of the ball in both those game and didn't give the opponents a whole lot of time to score. ... Thus keeping the scoring totals down.

ps Just checked 52 and 58 rushes respectively.

Yes I do. They were 2 beautiful games.

Edit : in those games TB made plays when he had to we hardly threw it at all. Coincidently WKU was about to get out of hand and our D was the game changer when Riles pick 6'd Doughtry and ole mo was ours the rest of the way.

I have no problem giving up some points. I don't think we will ever be a team that is holding teams to an average of less than 20 points per game. The problem is not scoring more to even give you a chance at winning. Honestly, I'm happy if we can hold teams to a per game average of around 24-27 points. This is especially true if we are capable of producing moments of good defensive play to turn a scoring chance away or force a crucial punt. We typically can win since we are usually a good offensive team which can overcome this. Right now, we won't carry great chances of winning against anybody since we can't move the ball much less score.

Even our prior two years, when we had moments of brilliance on the defensive side, it was usually based on individual effort rather than defensive scheme. (See Justin Andersen WKU 2013).

The only time I've witnessed a defense that the Cajuns fielded out man or out scheme a team was Nichols last year and maybe Texas St, but Id argue State shot themselves in the foot many times in that game.

At least we were able to show moments of solid D last year like the second half of the WKU game or Ark St. game along with Texas State. We had our terrible moments as well such as NMSU, WKU first half and Troy. This year, we have been void, through 3 games, of any positive signs that our defense can carry its own weight in producing any type of victories.
