Future Lady Cajuns

_ I used the adjective, odd, wrongly. I surmised that she struggled while adjusting to Michael's hitting, and adjusting to quality pitching. When she finally adjusted, she came upon the scene in a big way...three homers in a double header as an example(if my memory is correct). I should have attributed her success to being a good athlete, and able to adjust as good athletes do. _

I watched a couple of the kids from Texas hit when they came in for camp in the fall. The catcher from Texas looked really good. I will have to look at the list to tell you the kids I watched during the camp.

Thought I was going to get around to doing an update this week, but it looks like that might be pushed back until next week or later. This is what I've gotten so far:

Nerissa Myers and Brianna Cherry played at Petal High School in Mississippi. Their team just lost in a best-of-three series to Gulfport in the playoffs and have been eliminated. I confuse the two, but one of them is a shortstop, the other an outfielder/utility player. They're cousins and are both very athletic. Both were All-District and All-State basketball and softball players. The interesting thing about them is that they play both fastpitch and slowpitch softball.

Jennifer Martin plays shortstop for St. Thomas More. She's a solid hitter, average to above average power, strong fielder. STM beat future Lady Cajun Shelbee Rodgers (only a junior) in the second round and will play in the state tournament this weekend in Sulphur.

Sarah Draheim is a two-time All-District selection as catcher and will probably make it again this year. She's hitting like .325 with three homers, eight doubles and 15 RBIs. Her team was scheduled to play Friday, but the Swine Flu Epidemic may change that.

Jensen Tydelski plays for Pearland, Texas and they're ranked in the top five in Texas and top 40 in the country. Tydelski has a Texas-best 56 hits (.523 batting average) and 30-plus steals. She's been described as Katie Smith, with as much speed, if not more. She's an outfielder.

Britni Soria is another signee from Texas. She has five homers this season against very good competition. Her team won district and was scheduled to play a playoff game Friday also.

Megan Waterman played three seasons in Beaumont, then transferred to a prep school in Ashburn, Virginia. Haven't gotten an update on her season, but she was a three-time All-Southeast Texas Selection in Beaumont.

Soria is the larger kid with a longer stroke, but good power. She hit several out at Lamson.

Tydelski has a really smooth stroke and she can hit the ball to all fields. I didn't see much power, but that could come later.

Draheim is the catcher I was thinking about. She has good pot in her bat, her swing looked okay in comparison to the two others.

Those are the three I watched during summer camps. I did not see any of the kids from Mississippi.

_ Orgeron is starting to crush the ball and it couldn't be at a better time IMO. I have not looked up any stats on the girls we have coming in. IMO when we get into the regionals we will need our power hitters to hit for higher averages than they are currently in order to be seccessful.

I think our pitching will keep us in any game against any opponent, but our hitting is what will win those close games for us. The way we have been playing as of late I like our chances in a regional if we are away from Florida. _

just keep those NO Catholic girls like Gomes coming to the largest catholic University in the US---I think that is our Louisiana---I keep asking Fun if this is correct---btw Ms Gomes played at Cabrini!!!!!

Orgeron is the last of the "Fab Five Class" to play, she red-shirted last season. Brignac,Bridges,Smith,Bourgeois and Orgeron all won state championships their senior year. Orgeron has had the most problems adjusting to Michael's hitting program, so she is starting to come in to her own. It's not odd at all that she struggled early against quality pitching and but she is starting to see the light now. She showed good power her senior year and played catcher at Mt. Carmel.

I think you are correct with the exception of Smith. I seem to remember Coach saying she was bemoaning the fact that she was the only one not to win a title out of the signing class.

Cajuns rpi currently 23 look for them to win out regular season and win conference tournament, go to lsu as a 3 seed (with an rpi around 20 mind you) and get things going and return to another super regional

heck, who knows what will happen. if cajuns can keep the winning streak going and lsu can back their way out of the SEC tournament cajuns could end up somewhere else as a 2 seed. i doubt lsu would host as a 3 although you never know with the new stadium and the way the NCAA works

I think they would have to do some big things to get a 1 seed, they cant start with a sweep over auburn (33 rpi) this weekend

so far the Cajuns look good, they have a few close losses but none to teams lower than the top 100 rpi. they need to keep it that way by handling business this weekend.

OK I got you. I was thinking naturally of LSU as the 1 seed. It always stinks to be a 1 and travel, but that's very possible
