    Default Future Lady Cajuns

I read in the paper that Central out of BR, has a jr. pitcher UL commit, anyone else know of any future Lady Cajuns playing in Sulphur this weekend?

St. Thomas More's * Martin and her Lady Cougar teammates knocked out Shelbee and the Central Wildcats. Shelbee is only a junior, so she'll be a Lady Cajun in 2011.

Martin has signed with the Cajuns and will be playing this weekend in Sulphur. Other than that, there are no other players who have signed with the Cajuns playing this weekend.

The Cajuns have seven incoming freshmen this fall:

    * Martin -- STM
    Briana Cherry -- Pearl, Miss.
    Nerissa Myers -- Pearl, Miss.
Sarah Draheim -- Flower Mound, Texas
Britni Soria -- Fort Worth, Texas
    Jensen Tydelski -- Pearland, Texas
    Megan Waterman -- Ashland, Virginia

I'm hoping to put together a little roundup on how these future Cajuns are doing sometime this week. Jen Tydelski's dad has already responded (she's leading the state of Texas with 58 hits and a .519 batting average). I'm hoping to get some updates on the others.

Just from gathering information, this class appears to be very strong. A lot of these girls will come in and compete for a spot right away.

Just curious. We only have 3 seniors but are signing 7 incoming freshmen. Is softball like baseball with partial scholarships or do they get full scholarships like basketball?

I think we had three seniors last year and signed seven then as well.

I don't care how many seniors we have, if talent wants to come here I say BRING THEM!

It's like baseball. It helps that a lot of the girls are really smart as well, so they're getting academic scholarships as well.

The only have 3 seniors graduating this season, but next season they will have 8 seniors including Gaspard, Verde, Cuevas, and Bowers. The season after that they will have 7 seniors, including Smith, Brignac, Bourgeois, Bridges, and Cormier. All very important pieces right now to the Cajuns. While the ratio of recruits to seniors seems high, they know they need to assemble all the talent they can so that when their current stars graduate, they will be able to fill the gap.

They've been blessed the past couple seasons to have a young team and few seniors, but that young team is getting older now and its important to plan for the future and make sure the talent is there to replace their current stars. I'm extremely happy to see them loading up with some very good players!

Man we really need to find some power bats. That is what is missing this year compared to last years team. Soto and Tankersly were bombers, more Tankersly than Soto but Soto was very clutch.

Hopefully some of these signee's can come in and continue the Cajun tradition of dropping bombs like Tiffany Clark, Alana Addison, Danyelle Gomez and Holly Tankersly.
