Saints have missed out on another NO running back that they could have gotten after they passed on Forte last year.

Parrott, wondering if you know, but could Tyrell have come back to the Saints and said that he had a contract offer from another team and see if they would bump it to a contract rather than a tryout.
You've got to remember that these guys are playing for money now. If the Saints really liked Fenroy, they would have drafted him. They have no reason to give him a break because he's a local guy. They want the best players out there.

Guys like Fenroy will make that negative a positive and work harder to prove the doubters wrong.

He's got a tough fight to make Chicago's 53-man roster, but he can do it. Just needs to make the most of every opportunity and inch ahead of the other Adrian Peterson and Garrett Wolfe. The good news is those guys have to compete for a spot just like him.

From my understanding, Desormeaux got a three year contract from the Jaguars. How unusual is that for a free agent?

Not all that unusual. Again, remember that these deals are largely non-guaranteed. The bulk of any money is tied to whether he makes the 53-man roster. You still get paid on the practice squad, but not near as much.

In all honesty, I think Desormeaux will make the 53-man roster. The Jaguars put together a good plan for him, and I think they're excited about his potential. Now it's Michael's job to make it happen.

I think Chery has a strong shot because of the personnel around him. Fenroy will face a bigger challenge because the Bears already have four RBs on the roster.

Here's more of my thoughts on my blog:

I'm kind of surprised the Saints didn't show more interest in Fenroy. They need a smash mouth type RB since Duce. I guess they don't feel Fenroy can do this at the NFL level. I'm glad that all three will get a shot.

Since the time that Carl Smith --former UL coach that I was on the staff with went to the NFL--I call and give him my sneak picks of the year---all UL players---some have been great like Mitchell and the other NFLers--He called me and said that he talked to Mike and he was at dinner with the new wife---thought he was going to be a Brownie---Tater was looking at the ULM tape as we talked and did like him!!!!

The reason is that Fenroy isn't s smasher, hes a pierre thomas style runner and they already have that. I think that Fenroy is in a good situation because I don't think the bears are sold on Wolfe or Adrian Peterson and if he comes in and does what we know he can do, I'd guess that he's gonna give them a run for their money.

I think that everyone is getting what Fenroy is wrong. Is he a power back no. Is he a speed back no. He is a slasher. He hits the hole and hits it hard however he is not going to run over a 250 lb LB or out run an NFL safety. I don't want to compare him to a future hall of famer but I will lol He runs like Emmit Smith...Smith was never flashy but he was patient and hit the hole that his O-Line provided. Can Fenroy get big gains in the pros ? Yes! But go back and look at the highlights all of his big runs came after the O-Line opened HUGE holes (look at the ULM game). With that said he will get you 4 yards a carry and not lose you the game with fumbles. I think he can have a very good pro career but like Patrick Cobb from North Texas I think it will take sometime to find his nitch.

If memory serves, I don't think Fenroy was ever charged with a fumble in four years.

I remember Mr. Fenroy's introduction to college football and it was a fumble. It was the first game against the soon to be National Champion Texas Longhorns, who had Vince Young at quarterback. Chester Johnson had gotten hurt that game and they put in young Mr. Fenroy. Although he took it like a champ he got his welcome to college football in the form of a LB run blitz that not only seperated Tyrell from the ball but, I think may have dislodged his splean.

I was on the sideline and as soon as it happened (even though no one said it) all you could hear is "Welcome to 1A football Mr. Fenroy". Tyrell bounced back well and if I remember correctly Mike had a big game against Texas, outran some all american safties.

Tyrell is a great back but, come on; even Jim Brown fumbled a little.

Good luck Mr. Fenroy; We Are Rooting (SP?) For You
