Anyone know what the weekend starters will be? I thought lackie did pretty good against L.S.U. Maybe they'll give him a shot.

Osborne is the Friday night guy for now. The rest are TBD.
Our best chances for the rest of the year would be:
Fri: Osborne
Sat: Jut
Sun: Fuse
midweek: Broussard/Lackie
Bullpen:
Closer: Harmon (by far the most consistant in the pen this year, doesnt get credit for the year he is having)
RHP: Wagley, Lackie, Wascom, Cook for long relief
LHP: Haagan, Wilborn
Lineup:
CF: Olasin
SS: Fontenot
1B: Whipple
C: Keefer
DH: Hawkins
LF: Goulas
RF: Smith
3B: Hicks (yes Hicks)
2B: Bostick
I agree for the most part. I would go like this (position wise not batting order)
C: Keefer/Griffen
1B: Hawkins/Whipple
2B: Bostick
SS: Fontenot (Maybe Hicks if Fontenot is D2D)
3B: Benzel/Keefer
LF: Fuselier
CF: Olasin
RF: Smith gets some time/Whipple
DH: Long/Whipple/Smith/Hawkins it depends on the lineup
I have no idea about the pitching because it has been so up and down recently.
I cant blame you for not wanting to go with Hicks, but lets be objective. This is a guy who has been with the team for 5 year, has 15 or so career bombs, has been a great team guy and leader the whole time he has been with the program. He got off to a horrible start and was benched. He hasnt had a chance to come out of the funk, but when you put a leader like that back on the field, good things can happen, plus from a defensive standpoint, hes our best 3rd baseman.
Sorry but its not even close. He is not our best defensive 3B. Benzel, Keefer, Hicks, Long. Hicks has always been a .920 fielding pct guy. Keefer is at .972 this year (including his stints at catcher) As for batting, if he can get it going he would be the 2nd maybe 3rd best hitter in that group. I definitely agree with him getting in the lineup somewhere at times being a senior. We need something to shake up this team.
I havent seen Benzel enough to form a real opinion on his defense. I'm comparing him to Keefer and Long. We're talking about a guy who is a true 2nd baseman but has played Everywhere in our infield. In 07 he moved to 3rd and became a stud on that team (when Van de keere was slumping). He has better range and is more athletic then Keefer.
Even if he goes 1/4 every game from here on out, you're getting a guy who is a spark plug on a team. Everyone loves him and I think it would be a great move to get the team energized again. (Also, what do you have to lose at this point).
Yea but in 07 he didnt own the position. That was one of our weakest fielding positions. I mean, he split time with Tim Santiago! He still only had a .928 fld pct that year and the other 2 were worse.
Range is a different subject. Hicks probably does have more range than Keefer, but if he's gonna make a stab on a ball, whats the point when he throws it 10 ft over the 1B head.
At this point I still think our best choice is Benzel at 3B and Keefer at C.
I hear what you are saying, I just feel from the mental standpoint of the team, its more of a spark when you get a 5th year senior with 2 rings in the lineup. And even if he hits .250 down the stretch with .920 fielding percentage, its better then what we have going now.
I like Benzel too, dont get me wrong, I just dont see the team being sparked by him and I think Hicks can. That's all Im saying
