UL outfielder/catcher Chance Harst has left the baseball team to focus on completing his undergraduate degree before pursuing a master's degree in business administration. The junior made the move after speaking coach Tony Robichaux following Thursday's practice.
Harst, a Lafayette native, has missed most of the season with a severely strained oblique muscle. The former St. Thomas More standout was hitting .158 in five games this year before getting hurt.
The news was first reported at theadvertiser.com.
"He felt that the commitment he needed to make was to finish up school and get his MBA," Robichaux said. "He didn't want to cheat us and cheat the team. I respect that he came to me like a man and said he wanted to go to school full time."
