Again, I think its a philosophy. Back in 2012, we were slinging the ball around the field and going over the top when we had the chance. Gautier had a good deep ball arm and we were not afraid to play from the seat of our pants. It seems that our philosophy has grown into a more controlled offensive scheme trying to protect the ball and our QB and it doesn't work as well. We've been, at times, overly committed to the run game and have passed on opportunities to spread the field. Hell, Broadway came in for Blaine in 2012 and had a fantastic year and over 3,000 yards of offense in essentially half a season. He flourished in that system but has not been as impressive in this more controlled scheme and I hope it changes.

We have guys who are just as talented, but different styles. Butler has the surest hands since Fred Stamps. Devin Scott is the fastest WR since Troy Tauriac. Robinson is a freak like Brandon Marshall. Jared Johnson is like Green just not used as much. Fusilier is close to Stokley, not as good but close.

The point is we have very talented WRs we just do not utilize them like we should. Is that play calling or are we limited due to blocking or shortcomings at QB. That is the answer that none of us know.

No doubt we have some talent there, but we don't have 5 recievers that are as good as some of the all time Cajun greats or a pro bowl type receiver. Johnson is nothing like Green except for his height.

We don't know what Johnson can do because we don't throw to him like we did Green.

I'd argue all day with you regarding WR since I was one here same time Stokely was. I know what I see in the talent we have now at WR. We do not throw the ball enough at all.

You think if Art Briles was the HC we would say our WR are not talented? I can promise you they are, they are not productive and that is because of schemes.

i know that Broadway is and as of now should be the starter...lets say he struggles (which I dont think he will longer than the next couple of tough games)in early SBC games be it from scheme or just lack of production on his part ...What happens then?...yank him?...i think he is the best the cajuns have to lead them to wins

Unless he is hurt, he will be the starter. I don't see that changing.

Keep everything in front of us defense only takes sometimes 70-80 yards 7-10 yards at a time for a TD......

Blocking up front. Give TB some time in the pocket to hit these WRs. without throwing off his back foot or off his a-ss........

OK. I understand all of the above. Bottom line on offense, how many rushing yards and how many rushing touchdowns did Broadway get the last 2 years? What percent of our rushing offense and rushing touchdowns did it account for?? I didn't look it up but I bet is was a good percentage of both. We need his running game to be a threat to the defense to open up the other aspects of our game. We are a midlevel D1 college team. We do not have a $25mm/year franchise quarterback. He doesn't need to be sliding, he needs to be running and scoring TDs.

To add to your point ...

A QB standing in the pocket will get hit many times harder standing in the pocket than he will by a player waiting for him downfield.

    No need to slide.
