Thread: Scott Hawking stats

    Default Scott Hawking stats

For those of you complaining about Robe pinch hitting for Hawkins, here is some stats for you. Since hitting his last home run against Southern these are the numbers.

    6 - 28
    .214 BA
    1 RBI
    5 Walks
    6 Runs scored
    5 Strikeouts

On the note of pinch hitting with Masch. Friday vs ULM, Masch pinch hit for Whipple and was 1-1. Then Wednesday vs Southeastern, Masch pinch hit for Hawkins and was 1-1.

In my opinion, it's obvious what his problem is. I think Hawkins is pressing and once he hits another long ball, he will relax and be himself again. However, he was 1-10 on the weekend with 3 strikeouts. Masch pinch hit because he has been effective in that role as well as being the only option at first base due to many reasons.

Yea some are making a little too much about this PH. Hawkins had hit into a few big double plays over the weekend. It was a decent call. He has not been that good of a clutch hitter this season even though his stats look good.

You guys are starting to think like Robe and that is not a good thing--Hawkins has a 4 year history of being a very good hitter with tremendous power-He was scheduled to bat Sunday with the game on the line--In baseball you cannot be so shortsighted to pinch hit for him there because he has had a few bad games-Again he has a 4 year history(and a good one at that)and Masch has a 4 week history--Baseball is a game of percentages--Now think this through--I am going with Hawkins EVERY time--On another note, what do you think you are doing to your best hitter mentally by not showing any confidence in him--Any good basball person knows and would agree that you should NEVER pinch hit your best hitter--EVER

Hawkins is nowhere near our "best" hitter this year. He ranks 8th in batting average at .293. Oh yeah, do you remember what happened earlier in the day when Hawkins came up with the game on the line? Bottom of the 9th down 8-6 with Keefer on first? HE HIT INTO THE GAME ENDING DOUBLE PLAY!

Now I'm not bashing Hawkins, but he struggled at the plate all weekend.

In baseball you have to think long term and if someone has a history--Golf is the same way--The way you are thinking if Tiger Woods bogied the first 3 holes you would think he was an 18 handicapper--Let him finish the round!!! The same theory applies in baseball

You might be shortsighted in your assessment of the situation. Do you know why robe did it? No. Maybe he was trying to light a fire in scott's ___. Maybe he was seeing what masch could do in a big situation. The fact is, our only chance at post season is winning the conference tourney. Robe has to find a way to get hot at the right time. And at this point, I say try anything.

The fact is robe has won over 60% of the games he has coached. Before these last 2 seasons, he won 2 out of every 3 games. That's pretty good if you ask me.

Obviously he is not our BEST hitter...he may be our best power hitter but not our best hitter

Go back to LSU game. He looked horrible in 4 straight ab's then in the top of the 9th BAM. We win because we left Scott...the player with the most power potential... in a game. But he's not really that clutch so I don't know how he did it. Just playing devils advocate here

Not our best hitter by a LONG shot... I'd rather see just about anyone else up there with the game on the line... a freshman (Les Smith), Whipple, Keefer, Fontenot...

he was left in that game because that venue, like the old box, is a launching pad. and there arm they were using had good velocity, and when velocity meets up with power, in a launching pad, the end result will be.....what he did that night
