Hey sign me up, i'm in!
I've never viewed it as a love affair, so a honeymoon was never in place for me. I don't view coaches that way. It took a position and starting salary that no one else was apparently ready to offer and pay to get Hud here. It took even more money to keep him here... more than once.
Do I like him as our coach? Yes. I like him "off the charts" as our coach. He's kicked us into an orbit we aren't even familiar with. Does that mean he's perfect? No. And I believe... and this is strictly my opinion... that he was able to immediately inject an enthusiasm and energy... coupled with a level of work ethic and physical conditioning... that got us jumped up to where we are. He and his staff also recruit very well... and the winning has multiplied that effect. But, I see very little improvement beyond that.
The issue is technical coaching. No need for the extreme details. But "that" is the problem right now. And perhaps Hud can kick that up a notch as well... if he humbles himself enough to agree it's true.
It was not the talent... on the field... on Saturday. Tech, in no way, has more talent than UL. They are not better athletically... and they are not more physical. They have some technical coaching that we are short on right now. Hud just needs to figure out what and who needs help... and get that help... fast.
Everybody here really needs to calm the frick down. The Cajuns lost to a better team, or at the very least did not show up when the opponent did. After baseball season some of you didn't know which shirt you wanted more, "Broadway for Heisman" or "HUD for President" Tech was picked to win the CUSA west division and unless the game Saturday was a fluke, they should be in a bowl game. Personally, I would much rather see the Cajuns lose to an I'm state rival who's only loss is to Oklahoma than some new addition Slum Belt team.
Of course not I never guaranteed anything. Just trying to keep hope alive. In years past the letdown has come near the end of the season. What I'm saying is if Tech is as good as I hope they are and the Cajuns are as good as I hope they are, this loss won't seem so terrible. The part about being calm was more about the overall meltdown on here since Saturday.
Honeymoon periods are often defined by how long you are willing to bite your lip while observing an imperfect person you care about act human.
Only you can end your honeymoon period, it is different for everyone.
For me the honeymoon period ended near the end of a certain BCS P5 Florida based game.
Honeymoons end, legal love affairs continue on long after ...
Whoa, nobody is calling for HUDs head, but at a million a year that shirt we saw Saturday night will not fly. I have never seen a team as unprepared for such a huge game as we saw Saturday night. There is no excuse. I fully expect us to be competitive Saturday.

Ahhh yesss...the good old days when you could drive up to the game, park in the parking lot 30 minutes before the game. Walk right in without your wife getting her purse checked. Watch a great college game, visit with friends then leave in a relatively short time without the traffic jam.
it just seems like you are "the guy" from last year who told alot of people they could not complain about how bad our defense was because we still won a game against a NM State or GSU barely. After what we watched saturday, we arent even hopeful against half the sun belt slate we have lined up this year. its not because we are jumping off the bandwagon, its because we saw it with our own eyes saturday at cajun field. im hoping they prove me wrong more than anyone else, but i also saw something that i can objectively criticize, i dont need people to tell me to calm down because it is one game.
