Thread: Broadway or Haack

  1. #1

    Default Broadway or Haack

It may be time to re-evaluate what we have with Broadway. We all know his performance was a little shaky last week vs. Southern. Those who really paid attention saw a lot of bad throws and decisions. And his Touchdowns were more or less just jump balls that don't require any skill besides lofting the ball to the that tall guy over there.

Brooks Haack may have flopped against South Alabama last year but the kid was just that, a kid. A true freshmen thrown into the fire. They said all camp that he has looked really sharp and when given the chance in the Southern game, he looked a lot more mature and confident in his abilities and led the offense to a Touchdown.

Look, I'm not saying it's time to completely can Broadway. But maybe, just maybe, we give Haack some playing time before it's garbage time. Broadway needs some competition. Haack is our future at QB the next few years. I'd like to see what he can do now.

It's become painfully clear to me, that Broadway is very one-dimensional. He's a running QB, that happens to toss up a few TDs here and there.

I hope Broadway proves me wrong and everyone in the stands wrong and he really gets after it the rest of the season, but man… you can't convince me otherwise until it actually happens.

I don't think we as a whole have an answer. You know the old saying if you have 2 QBs you truly have zero. It's junk time but I like some of the throws that Haack makes when he's in. If you watch him he actually goes through his reads and cat seems calm, cool, and collected. I think he'll continue to get some quality PT the next week or so and my gut tells me he'll start the majority of Sunbelt games. The way we're playing right now man every game left on the schedule will be a struggle. Hopefully we can get it fixed and that's what the coaches get paid to do. I think everybody from fans to administration is knee deep in humble pie right now. Who knows this could still be one of our best teams but it just proves if you don't come to play your __s can and will be whopped behind the wood shed.

just finished watching the replay. dont know if its a mental thing on his part or a game plan thing. after watching the game it was pretty clear he was told to get the first down and if its not a wide open td slide or fall without taking too much contact. Every year it looks like they dont take the chains off him running wise until conference play. His passing game has never been the go to with our running game but in the past we did throw it on "running" downs which kept defenses honest. We don't do that anymore evidently. It looked like there wasn't much drawn up to air it out, it was all flats and safe tosses with a 10 or 15 yd pass sparingly once it was well out of reach. The two all out blitzes where he just chucked it...there was nothing else he could do. i put both of those on the line man who never touched anyone and as the ball is in the stands he's looking around like "do what now?" It's on him to a degree b/c it was pretty obvious that a big blitz was coming and a t/o or audible should have been called, but if the lineman does his job its a non factor. As far as him just throwing ____ty passes there were examples like the tipped int. but it wasn't like his bed wetting 5 int performance against ark state a few years back. This seemed to be shared bed ____ting among everyone on the sideline.

Haack did look very confident in the pocket but it has been against the trash fish the last two weeks and he has had some breathing room also. but he does throw a pretty ball and its on target.

the answer to all of our questions lies in the answer to another. We are known as a potent running attack with a dual threat qb so the play action should be primed before we actually take the first snap but it isn't, i havent seen a dual threat in a while.

hud was the passing game coordinator, whatever that means, at msu so i assume he knows something about broadway's range that i don't which is another bad sign. possibly the arm never got back to 100%. Im not sure where the broadway that took over for blaine is but man...like you i hope the apb is out.

i must concur haack's strongest feature is poise. look back at last season, evidently we are a team and a coaching staff that needs 3 games to get the ____ out of our brains. hopefully we flush it sooner than later

Hold your horses I'll support whomever coach puts out there to play QB. I like what Broadway brings to the table as far as leadership. If you know the guy he is one of the most intelligent players on the team. I do question his arm strength after the injury last year. Haack does need some playing time not to unseat Broadway but incase we need him. Look back at our recent history when was the last time we have finished the regular season with the opening day QB.

I hate to say it, but we have a history of our starting QB's getting hurt. Look back over the past few seasons. As much as Broadway runs, it is always a possibility.
Yall may get your HAACK by way of an injury to Broadway at some point this year.
I wasn't impressed when HAACK filled in last year at all.
    I hope Broadway stays healthy.

I vote Haack!! I have seen enough of Broadway... He is on the lower side of mediocre at best. He is not this prodigy like we expected. Time to prepere Haack for the future.

Whatever the problem is with this this team needs to be worked out. If it is coaching, players, play calling, or team chemistry then it needs to be fixed soon. All this smoke that was blown up our a $ $ about the best season in UL history is getting washed away. If we cant fix this cr. a p then we will get skull f.u. C.ked against Ole Miss and everyobe will watch the bowl season from their couch.

While Broadway has proven he is gutsy and proven, he has bad moments with his accuracy and decisions but I LIKE HAAK. It is time to give him a start again and prove himself.

It seems like Terrance hasn't progressed much since his first year here. He was great coming in for Blaine Gauthier a couple of years ago, but I haven't seen much development from him. Last year it seemed to me that Nixon was the perfect fit for this offense, he reminds me alot of Gauthier. I'm not sure why he is suspended, but I actually thought it would be a qb battle if he was available. If Broadway continues at this rate, Haack deserves a shot.
