Thread: Football talk (only?)

    Default Football talk (only?)

How about a thread without the uniforms, tarps, names, weather, attendance? All good stuff, but I'd like a little football talk.

UL must stop Dixon early and make them throw, which I don't think they can be that effective and the Cajuns can go full speed rushing the passer.

The Cajun Defense didn't get any turnovers against Southern. I would have guessed that we could have created a couple against them. This has to change, and of course UL must limit turnovers on Offense. TB, no staring down the receiver please.

Dominate the line of scrimmage and show what is believed to be a difference in talent. The Ragin Cajun Def line needs to walk the walk, as the press has been giving a good bit of talk. Stop the run and pressure the QB.

Will Hud show us some razzle dazzle on offense with McGuire? Hope so.

I'm interested to see what our style of play will be today. I'd be thrilled as hell if we play similar to the WKU and the Arkansas State game last year. While the margins of victory weren't big it was clear on those days who the better team was. However if we play that style defensively and our offense opens up the playbook we can potentially have a big day.

Absolutely. Run it until they stop it, and then run it some more.
I'm curious to see the defensive line. Gotta step up.

Turnovers were a head scratcher agaiant southern. On both sides. This topic is a must fix.

On offense, I think we control the ball, a balanced attack to limit the touches for the Tech Offensive running game. If that's the case, we need to flip the field a few times with punting game. Give Tech an 80 or 90 yard field. On defense, Cajuns load the box with 7, drop 4 and go head to head with Tech's passing game, man to man. I think we'll see a ton of defensive combinations and pressures in stopping their run.agg..If we can get to pass, or in 3rd and long, we'll win this game. Cajuns will play with a ton of aggressive energy, this one's for the fans who have had their share of suffering against Tech. UL 50 Tech 21

Jury still out on our DB's. Will we take the same approach as last year...10 yd cushion and bail no matter what or will we jam receivers more.

Side note. Our LB #44 (Foquier) needs to see more time. Dude went beast mode

Excellent points by all. Also, I think McGuire can be huge on punt returns, I'm sure Tech's kicker will be better than Southerns. Should be fun to watch.

Get the TE and slot receivers involved with the passing game along with a heavy dose of Harris and Mcquire. Get a big lead and crouse in the forth quarter with Haack. Sleep well tonight being 2 and 0.

We're just entering the second year under James Willis as the D-Coordinator, I have high hopes that we're gonna trend upward this year. I think last week, we went very vanilla, very base on both sides of the ball not giving Tech or anyone anything to prep for, this week will not be that way. We were able to knock some rust off. Our strength is our rush D, we'll stop their run attack and force them to throw, allowing us to pin our ears back and slam the passer, which will create some turnovers. On Offense, I think we start with Zo rushing up the gut, which will soften them up, leaving more room for Prophet Elijah to break one or 2 big ones and Robinson on the outside when we finally do decide to pass. Again, nothing about this game scares me, we're gonna dominate the LTU-R from whistle to whistle, and thankfully after the game, the Neck fans will want to kill themselves.

After watching the recorded southern game yesterday, i saw that Broadway was not given much time to throw, much less make multiple reads, and lanes didn't open up much for running backs. This week I want to see how well our OL adjusts and sticks to their blocks and protect our QB. If not get BW out of the pocket and let him protect himself. I know we blew a couple of defensive coverage, but I love the aggressiveness on defense, and I think our DL is great, and will be great tonight, stopping the run. Love me some #44. I specifically watched that guy last week and knock the lead blocker (running back) flat!@# backwards. #44 plays like a man! Getting ready to leave New Iberia to head to field. GEAUX CAJUNS!!!!
