The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration wants students, faculty and staff members at the University of Louisiana to craft catchy slogans that could be used to market the college and its programs.
Entries for the college's slogan competition will be accepted from 9 a.m. on Sept. 8 until 6 p.m. on Sept. 17. Original slogan ideas can be submitted via a Web form at http://business.louisiana.edu/slogancompetition.
The Web page lists contest rules, guidelines and tips that include a suggested length of three to seven words. Contestants also are encouraged to learn more about the Moody College of Business, and to consider key messages about the University's mission and purpose. Those messages include:
• we're committed to research for a reason;
• this is our time, and we're determined to make the most of it;
• we have a gift for bringing people together;
• we're eager to share what we're learning;
• we teach the real meaning of joie de vivre; and
• our Ragin' Cajun spirit goes beyond athletics.
Potential prizes include a total of $1,500 in retail gift certificates to Best Buy, with $500 for first place. A selection committee will determine winners. If no entries are deemed of sufficient quality, prizes will be forfeited. In the case of multiple entries of the same slogan, the first one submitted would receive the prize if selected as one of the top entries.
"This competition allows the creativity of our students, faculty and staff across the UL campus to capture the spirit of the remarkable programs Moody College of Business offers," said Dean Joby John, who will serve on the selection committee.
The Moody College of Business is cited in the 2014 edition of the Princeton Review's "Best 295 Business Schools." The popular guidebook has included the college each year since 2008. It offers nine undergraduate degrees and multiple graduate programs including a Masters of Business Administration, an MBA with Health Care Administration concentration, an Executive MBA and the new Masters in Accounting and Graduate Business Certificate programs.
