Thread: Craft Beer ? For Cajuns

  1. #1

Default Craft Beer ? For Cajuns

Looking forward to making the game. I'm a huge craft beer nut & will try to squeeze-in a visit to one of your local breweries. I prefer Parish beer in general but enjoy LA's seasonals. Which one has the better tasting room/experience? Thx in advance.

Also, heard recently that S'Port's flagship brewery "Great Raft" will be expanding into South La soon. Excellent beer & if you happen to be rolling through the Port City, it's definitely worth your time.

Bayou Teche Acadie & Parish Canebreak are on tap at the stadium.

I would be interested in a discussion on this as well. I've had most of them. But, I've never visited a tasting room.

Our stadium is considered "on campus" The Cajundome is not. We were one of the first colleges to sell beer at an "on campus" stadium. I think that Colorado State was the other. Many more are doing it now.

However, isn't Ruston in a dry parish?

Parish brewery would be your best bet They are open on Saturdays for tours and taproom is open until 7 pm.

I've only been to the Parish tour/tasting. You can show up and follow along on the tour, or just hang out by their tasting area. Bring some dollar bills to tip the guy topping you off. At the time, Envie wasn't released yet, so we got to drink on that. They also had a keg of their Grande Reserve to drink on, which is hard to come by. They built a tap room in the front of their building since my last visit, so you can go drink their crafts in there.

I am pretty sure the Cajundome is on campus, it is just run by the city.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. I'm pretty sure there's nothing stopping y'all from selling beer.

You are correct. It is either the schools decision or the conference they play in.

Maybe it has to do with the operator of the facility. I just remember there was a reason that beer was sold at the Cajundome for a long time, but not at the Tigue or Cajun Field.
