I applaud you for recognizing this may offend some. I do understand both sides and it is not a big deal to me but it is to several folks. Perhaps selling pro gear of the former Tiger athletes from the area would be the one to go. That way you are making money off of them but not tieing it to LSU. Note that some folks are also offended by the use of ULL. If you go back and study the history of the 1984 name controversy, you will understand. To some we are the University of Louisana and always will be. Adding the city tag or initial is not necessary and in fact drives some folks away.
i always thought about making a shirt with LSU colors and writing in a different language LSU sucks and tell them its a completely different saying that what it really means and would love to watch them buy it like the hottest thing on the market!! But since you are taking the LSU items down does that mean you are taking the Texas stuff down or do i get to bid on that?!
they (people that had problems with the items) really only had a problem with the LSU stuff...but in all fairness, we had to take down anything with a college other than UL. I asked if it was a problem that Terry Bradshaw went to LA tech and they said NO. I also asked if it was a problem with the Marcus Allen USC Helmets and they said no. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND the issues with LSU, We were just trying to make some money for our students.
Thanks for all who offered feedback (good and bad). If you are still interested in the Texas stuff, we might do a blind auction where people send in their highest bid offer.
Is it to late to add donated items?
igeaux.mobi
not at all...we will add stuff until the last day if need
thanks turbine
I realize that you want to make as much as possible, But, we have to
draw the line somewhere.. I understand there are many non UL items
for sale for folks who want to help. I doubt seriously that lsu fans would want to help anyway. Let's have a little pride . Selling lsu gear at an UL function of anykind is rediculas to me..Just ask yourself, would you ever see a Cajun item for sale at any lsu fundraiser? Come on, suck it up ...take the small hit on
those items and preserve your dignity.
Thanks for the feedback...I definately see your point and this point was brought up to our students by me before they items went up. They chose to go that route. The items however have been taken down. It does bring up a good conversation in regard to where the line should be drawn:
1. Terry Bradshaw (La Tech Grad)
2. Marcus Allen USC helmet
ect
point well taken
