Forgot about French Press. Not bad, but the acoustics are atrocious. You can't hear your own thoughts, it'll give you a headache before your food is served.

You want AUTHENTIC Mexican?? No ambiance whatsoever, but hit La Morenita grocery, where they serve traditional Mexican lunches. Also check out the shopping prices, they're straight out of the 1970's. Look at the spices while you're in there, you'll see a gazillion things you've never seen before (including spice bags containing wood chips... now what's THAT about? My wife lived in Spain for years, taught Spanish at UL, she didn't have any idea.)

Oh, and brush up your Spanish, because you'll be the only gringo in the place...

Since we'll probably knock back a few with lunch, and may want to watch a little football while doing so, which place (seafood) has the best set-up for that?

I will take La Pagua over any Mexican restaraunt in town, and honestly it's one of my favorite restaraunts anywhere. Everyone I tell to go there always is not a fan, but I have gained knowledge of what they order and they might as well just go to Taco Bell. I challenge any of you to go there and order either the tacos al carbon or tacos al pastor and tell me you think it's gross. It's not gonna happen, they are unbeleivable. Y'all can thank me later!
Well you're taste is awful, no offense. I've lived an eaten all over the world, including nasty ads Mexico and La Pagua is not good..

You'd have to sit in the bar and eat to watch TV. Don's Seafood Hut has a TV in the bar side. I like Don's seafood gumbo, seafood salad (with pepper jelly dressing), the shrimp remoulade salad, the boiled shrimp, and the seafood platter (grilled or fried).

If you weren't so set on seafood, I'd check out Deano's as others have suggested. It has TVs all over the place They do have the Marie Laveau pizza that has crab meat on it. If you try this place out, get the Cajun Executioner (my favorite) or maybe it and a half and half with the T Rex (meat lovers). This place rules. You can also get a really good shrimp po boy.

LOL on people suggesting ANY Mexican restaraunt to visitors. Anyone who spends less than 10 days in Lafayette should not be allowed to eat Mexican. Too many good things to try.
I understand if you live there, the Mexican food options available are worth a discussion.

I was in a mall in Tampa last year and saw "Cajun charlies" which was operated by ten Chinese people, doesn't make it Cajun.
I go often to lapagua with a buddy, who is 1 Gen Mexican, first time we went he was shocked that its "just like mom's". He said the place out around the old sams by ambassador is legit Mexican also. We've been eye Balling that Mexican grocery store on Cameron although neither of us have been.

Last request... We ate at a pizza joint (rotolo's) last weekend and watch the games. I'm positive I can't persuade this group to eat pizza in Lafayette. I'm willing to compromise on food quality somewhat for a variety of beers on tap and TV's. If you guys don't help me out here by pointing me to THE spot, I'll end up at Prejean's. Friends don't let friends end up at Prejean's.

Walk ons on kaliste Saloom, not the best food in Lafayette, but pretty good. Being that you aren't from here you won't know that it's not the best around. Awesome place to drink and watch games and food is good enough with plenty of seafood options.
