UL – On the strength of four home runs over a six-game span last week, UL softball’s Gabriele Bridges was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.
Bridges batted .471 on the week, going 8-for-17 with four home runs, six runs scored and eight RBI. She boasted a slugging percentage of 1.176 and walked two times for an on-base percentage of .526.
The sophomore reached base safely in all six games she played on the week, hitting safely in five games. She knocked back a pair of home runs against both Middle Tennessee and FIU.
Bridges scored a run in each of the six games she played in and had two multiple hit games on the week, including a 3-for-3 performance against Middle Tennessee with a home run and three RBI and a 2-for-3 effort with a home run and two RBI.
The performance moved her into double figures in home runs this season with 11, tying her single-season best set as a freshman last season.
This is the second time this season that Bridges won Sun Belt POW. She earned the award on Feb. 16 after finishing the Louisiana Classics 7-for-15 with four home runs, including a grand slam and three doubles.
Bridges and the Lady' Cajuns return to the field on Tuesday, April 7 as they host McNeese State in a 6 p.m., game at Lamson Park. Then its off on a six-game road swing that takes Louisiana to South Alabama (April 10-11) and Florida Atlantic (April 14-15).
