Louisiana's on campus Gator habitat existed before the school existed.

The Swamp was drained in the late teens, and renamed Cypress Grove.

It was reflooded in the 1940s and renamed Cypress Lake.

The Gators returned in the late 1950's and started showing up in school literature in the 1960's and the campus was protected with a barrier shortly thereafter.

…..l.Back in the days I would walk down the tunnel and thought about opposing teams and their thoughts ……I wondered if a real swamp scene could be painted on the walls with various vegetation and spider web effects……..then some audio sounds with an eerie ring to them to really give the picture……of course this could be done intra university with our art dept really having some fun!
