Thread: Sunday starter

  1. I have a Question Sunday starter

Still undecided as to who should be sunday starter. Maybe it'll be TBA till we find consistency. From what I heard yesterday, Cook seemed to struggle. I guess maybe more and more outings could get him outta his funk. Wilburn looked sharp in long relief again. Maybe he has found his calling as a middle reliever. Im understanding Wilburn will be moved up to Friday starter. Not diggin dat. Ill like being able to have fuse(Fusilier) as a hitter toward the end of the series when he isn't pitching.

Wilburn started the Saturday game & went 2.1 innings (I think) giving up 5 earned runs. He had some trouble getting the ball down after going through the order the first time. Blake Hagen went long relief followed by T-Robe for the last two innings.

Yea but Wilborn (yes its Wilborn not burn) has still shown to be our most effective arm for the most part. He didnt have his best stuff (possibly because of previously mentioned reasons), but he will show up next weekend for sure.

I dont have a huge preference with him and Fuse on the Friday or Saturday, but I understand what you are saying.

Response was in reference to original poster saying Wilborn looking good in long relief.

Gotcha. I missed that in his original post. Wilborn should definitely be a starter. Guess he meant Osborne.

  6. This is so COOL Re: Sunday starter

Sorry Osborne looked good in long relief. "Wilborn" Sorry again. My mistake.

Everytime Osborne has come out of the pen, he has been dominant. He looks comfortable in that role. When he has started, he's looked unsure of himself. I like Zach coming out of the pen. And judging from the way Cook is pitching, we may need ZO to be able to get warm quick.

I think we should leave Fuse on Friday. He probably had one of his better outings Friday giving up only two runs. He really hasn't been great but he hasn't pitched us out of a game yet this year. We have got some great performances from Wilborn and Osbourne but they have also gotten us behind very early in some games which cost us.

What do yall think about possibly using Harmon or Lil Robe as the Sunday starter? We would still have plenty in the bullpen with Osbourne, Hagaan, Wagley, and either Robe or Harmon.

I wouldn't be opposed to having Robe start on Sundays, at least give it a try. Osborne has been better out of the pen this year.

NO to Harmon, a big NO. I would say yes to Robe and putting Zach towards the end. Let us not forget, it was only 1 weekend. I will sing Osbournes' praises, I think I may need to see it a couple more times

What has happened to Randall Bulliard? I thought he was a pretty solid guy out of the pen last year, but we haven't seen him that much this year.

I just saw in another thread that Harmon will start against Tulane on Tuesday. I guess Broussard is done for the season after his temper tantrum in the dugout last Tuesday.
