UL Baseball: Record on hold

  UL - With Wednesday's game no longer in doubt, a smattering of boos rang out from the crowd as Northwestern State left-hander D.D. Lott intentionally walked UL first baseman Scott Hawkins in the seventh inning.

It was one of the few times the home crowd had anything to fuss about as the Cajuns rolled late to an 11-5 win at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

"There was an open bag, and a left-handed hitter behind me," said Hawkins, who with 38 career home runs needs two more to break Ron Robicheaux's school record of 39. "They were just playing smart baseball.

"You just take it as respect and move on."

I forget what inning, but I thought the blast he hit to dead center was out for sure. There must have been a breeze that held it up becuase he smashed it.

The whole team is starting to swing'em a little better. I think we have like 5 or so guys hitting .300+

I would love to see each and every batter in the lineup above .300!

usually i am not negative but cajuns get swept due to bad pitching ( u heard it here first)

the question is, which pitching staff will show up.. First 12 games staff, or the last 12 games staff.. If we get decent pitching with the way our bats have come alive, we can win the series..

Predicition: At home, nice weather. Defense continues to play well, bats slack off, but just slightly, Cajuns take 2 of 3.

I figured I had to give you credit for calling it twomp-five. I would have bet a hundred bucks on Thursday......... that I could beat you in a 100 yard hand walking race while barfing and throwing bread.
