I'm going to make a post that I know will be very unpopular with a lot of people on this board but I'm going to do it anyway. I have always loved the passion that so many people in this community have for this University. It's even more commendable when you look at what our fan base has been put thru by the past administration. We have put up with a lot of horrible years of football and still managed to have a fan base who were loyal when they shouldn't have been. When guys like Jerry Baldwin are your head coach and a 3-4 win season is viewed "as progress", times are tough. We then had administrations who have decided to change the name of our university several times as well as our mascot. On top of that, there has been a certain Louisiana institution that has blocked or overturned our attempt to reference our University by simply "University of Louisiana".
So we get past most of these hurdles and Hud gets hired. The RCAF gets started. NO Bowls are accepted. And the ball is finally rolling down hill. Unprecedented donations are coming in, our stadium and facilities are getting major facelifts and our football record has been very respectable the last 3 years.
Even with all of these perks we had a pitiful showing last weekend. We got our ___ whipped by LT last weekend and it wasn't even a game. From the opening kickoff they put it to us like they meant business. We were outcoached, out smarted and for damn sure out played. It was over after the first half but our team didn't even know it. There was trash talk before the game from both sides fans. Some in good spirit and some a little too personal.
What I have a problem with is the handful of people on here that can't just let it go and admit LT got the best of us. Why do we have to turn this into a "we're still better than you" argument? How old are you? Some of you act like you're still in middle school arguing over a game in PE. LT fans deserve the right to talk trash because here's a novel concept: "THEIR TEAM BACKED IT UP." If you don't like it then don't talk trash to them or help HUD get our team better prepared before our next rematch. It's a game and some of you people are acting like it's a life or death situation. A game that is played by 20 year old kids who's generation has been taught that playing sports is the easy way out versus getting a solid education and good job afterwards. As a fan I'm most proud that we have guys who go to class, graduate and are prepared for LIFE versus some game that a miniscule amount of guys are able to make a living doing. Some of you ought to get of your high horse and see how petty you are being.
