Nice try. Too bad they don't do research at LTU, maybe you'd have learned something:
It all started in the back of USL strength and conditioning coach Mickey Faulkinberry's mind.
"I was stretched out in bed one night thinking about our stadium and traditions," Faulkinberry said, "And all of a sudden it was just there."
What was there was 'The Swamp,' a brand-new moniker for USL's Cajun Field football facility. And, what started as only an idea has spread into common usage by Ragin' Cajun players and fans, including signs which warn visitors of the unusual surroundings they will soon face.
Cajun Field was constructed in time for USL's 1971 football season, and had always been known as just that prior to the 1988 campaign…
…"It all sort of fit together," said Faulkinberry, who joined with a group of Cajun players in referring to the stadium as 'The Swamp' during the summer prior to the 1988 season.

Head Coach Steve Spurrier tags Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida Field "The Swamp"... Spurrier says, "The swamp is where Gators live. We feel comfortable there, but we hope our opponents feel tentative. A swamp is hot and sticky and can be dangerous."
