Not diggin the "pepper" mascot

I think and have thought the longest that a kinda like West Va. Mountaineer is the way to go -----35k in the stands and out comes CAJUN MAN---shoots the shotgun and says over the mike--May how ya'll are?????? then does the Ragin Cajun--side to side to get everybody pumped up---remember the crazy guy with the drum???? old hat, rubber boots,etc!!!!! Now we look like a masculine character and not a whimp sausage!!!!! Now we really get the fans to participate!!!!! think it would work!!!!

Forgot to mention who would not make good Cajun Man mascots---Fun(even with your cheerleading experience-----The current Pepper( just for the fact that he was the pepper-----the poo poo dude(a lil too much)---Any suggestions for the gig???????

Honestly I think we need to keep the pepper for the simple fact that we need to establish an identity. Other schools are always poking fun in reference to all the names our University goes by. Changing the mascot again will serve no real purpose. We cant go around changing important aspects of the school whenever we get tired of it. For better or worse, we should keep the stupid little pepper.

Ten years and little or no fan acceptance is one point.

Ten years of throwing good money after bad is another.

And when the attendance doubles because an old sprit leader is making an appearance, it is a sign.

One would have to be capable of using APR as an excuse to keep a coach if he could somehow find a way to justify keeping the failed costumed Pepper.

Continuity does not come into play as an asset when there is an obvious disconnect between the identities.

I think it is pointless to even consider the Cajun Man. He was my favorite mascot but he will not be allowed to return. I think that a couple of years after he was created he was shut down for not being politically correct. Not sure what the arguement for that was but I doubt we see him again. But I'll say it again. He was the best mascot we had!

We could do something like the wizards do and have a guy in a spandex suite. He could bring out the Catahoula. I just don't know how a dog like that would respond to something that looks like a giant chew toy.

To me your mascot has to be something that people think of when they hear "Cajun." Something as simple as googling the work "Cajun" only brings up three things that could be mascots.

Gator - This would be my vote. Who cares if it's the same as what Florida has. Teams have similar mascots all the time. It's looks intimidating and I still can't get over the fact that we actually have live gators on campus.

Raccoon - Althought they do live in swamps, I doubt it would fly w/ our fans. I wouldn't be that big on it.

Crawfish - I doubt we will take on the same mascot as the Acadiana Mudbugs. To me it's a decent idea but I just don't know what the actual costume would look like.

Crab - We don't even want to go there. I don't want any jokes about the Cajuns having crabs.

Pelican - If you have issues w/ having the same mascot as someone, then you wouldn't like this one. We would have to share it with Tulane.

I like the Bullgator with ULtimate's logo. Only problem I have with this particular drawing is that it does look like Florida's gator. But if we are viewing this as a rough drawing of what we want our mascot to look like it's cool. Added a few other logos
