Also, there are only 2 ULs out there, us and Louisville. Since they are the Cardinals, the Fleur de Lis with the interlocking UL would clearly distinguish us from Louisville. Use the one that was on the football helmet in red with black trim and put a white with black trim interlocking UL in the middle.

I'm thinking a smaller UL in white with black trim in the middle of the upper/center pedal of the flower (if that makes sense).

Very nice logo but are we not talking mascots? You wouldn't be suggesting a seven foot giant fleur de lis running around the football games?

Most mascots are a physical representation of a team's NICKNAME.

Our problem is that our nickname is a group of people, and we already tried Cajun Man.

So, the next step should be finding a mascot that is identified with your NAME. Our name is The University of Louisiana. For a mascot, this would be best done with the official State Dog, THE CATAHOULA.

Good post! I'm all for the Catahoula. Very unique, unlike bulldogs, gators, chili peppers(lol),
etc. Great looking dog with the characteristics of most of us: great companions, loyal, and
    protective of family.

As The University of Louisiana, the state dog makes sense as a mascot. And, in the Catahoula breed name is the UL "catahoULa". A great name for the dog would be "Fideaux", the same name that was suggested for the red Bull Gator. Either would be an excellent mascot. Could someone find and post the picture of the red Bull Gator from a previous thread?

I like the idea of having an actual living dog, kind of like Smokey at Tenn.

That looks good. We could name him RC (for Ragin Cajun) or Fideaux or Louie (short for Louisiana). We could have two dogs, a male and a female and name the male Louie and the female Ana.

Track & Field Re: Not diggin the "pepper" mascot

Pepper Pixie, very economical costume for a mascot :-)
