Thread: Not diggin the "pepper" mascot

  1. Default Re: Not diggin the "pepper" mascot

I am not going to give my 2 cents worth of what I would like to see in the way of a helmet or uniform. I simply wish that it be a uniform and helmet that is recognizable, without a lot of embellishments. A final wish is that it would be a uniform and helmet that will stay the same for all the years to come.

God forbid that something akin to the hideous Oregon helmet and uniform would be foisted upon us. However, I must add that when you see them on the tube they are instantly recognizable for who they are.

It's amazing that a department connected so closely to an institution of higher learning continuously gets it wrong. We are an old University that has no tradition. That is why I think the plain uni's and simple logos would be great because it harks back to the older and simpler times lending itself to look more traditional. But what the hell do I know. I can't get anyone in that lowly department to send me an email back. haha

I don't even care if I get any credit or anything if they would use it, as long as we make a move to something traditional and stay with it. There's nothing traditional about flaming peppers. Look at the best Uni's in college football: Penn st., Notre Dame, Ohio St., Texas, OU, etc.... all traditional Uni's.

The double striped helmet has been around since 1975. Whatever they put on the side of their helmet I could always tell it was the Cajuns because of the stripes. I liked the fluer de lis helmet you had even though I'm not a fan of the fluer de lis because to 80% of the nation that's a Saints logo. I guess what I'm saying is bring back the double striped helmet regardless of the logo.
