UL coach Michael Lotief knew the kind of talent he had in freshman Erikka Murphy.

He also knew slowly introducing her to the demands of college softball was the key.

So, instead of throwing the former standout from Memorial High School in Victoria, Texas, into the mix right away, Lotief let Murphy ease into the season.
