Somebody from Abbeville refresh my memory. Jelani was the brother of another good football player? Who was it?

    Ray Boudreaux played for Tulane

Thanks. Ray was one we could have used. Wasted opportunity at Tulane.

What I remember about Smith was the speed. He should be our fastest LB once he steps on the field. He should really help as an OLB or SS.

Smith is not going to play SS. He is too big and we just brought in another JUCO guy to play SS. He is either going to play SLB or MLB. Josh noted that he was coming in to play MLB but I hope we use his speed on the outside, plus I think I'd rather see a Richard Brooks or somebody of that size in the middle. JMO

Totally agree on Rich Brooks. I think he's going to be a great follow up to AZ. We need his size on the edge. Him and Daylon on the outside would neutralize many running games, and make for a hell of a cover 2 and zone blitz. Is he eligible next year?

McCoy will be a senior in 2010. Smith will be sitting out his year in 2010. Eligible in 2011.

I actually mentioned that Smith played weakside at Arkansas. Many considered him too small to play that position in the SEC at 6-0, 215. When asked where he would play, Bustle said "he is a linebacker." I'd expect him to play on the weakside.

As for Le'Marcus Gibson: He signed with Hawaii out of Gulfport, Miss., (he was rated the nation's No. 77 safety by ESPN.com) before transferring to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He played in 2008 at MGCCC and sat out 2009 for financial reasons.

According to Bustle, Gibson is a walk-on right now. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts in the spring. He will be eligible in 2010 and has two years of eligibility left.

I got confused because he played MLB in high school. Sorry for the confusion. Nontheless, I think we all agree that he is not going to play MLB here and we will certainly need his athleticism on the outside.
