NCAA Rates SU Band #2 in Nation Behind Ohio State

Last season the NCAA rated Southern University's Marching band #2 in the nation behind Ohio State. A few years earlier, SU's band was ranked #1 among college bands by USA Today. Multiple publications consistently rank this band among the nation's best, and the SU family is proud of these accomplishments. So expect an outstanding peformance from the Jaguar band on Saturday night.

The "Human Jukebox" advertises and gets the schools name mentioned year round.

The value to the overall school can not be overlooked.

This remark made me wonder how much cheaper it is to run a top grade band like the Human Jukebox than it is to run a ascending FBS football program. If getting recognition through the band is that much cheaper, then it makes sense. Of course, having a nationally known band and a nationally known football program (like Ohio State) would be the best of all worlds.
